The Humanitarians' Prayer
Education, social
conscience, and political activism need not be dull or tedious. Our goals are:
To create and distribute media which are simultaneously artistic, entertaining
and provocative; To build a self-sufficient network which promotes awareness,
informed debate, free thinking and positive lifestyle choices; To attract and
inspire both a physical and digital community whose members will benefit from
the exchange of ideas and information about attaining personal happiness while
moving the world toward a just and sustainable humanity.
In support of these goals, "The Alter-Nation Project" (Alter-Nation.com)
makes the following disclosures of facts and policies:
1. We encourage active participation, commentary, debate and community building.
It is good to hear and consider alternative points of view. We are very strong
advocates of freedom of speech. We do NOT accept, condone or tolerate speech or
actions which are obscene, hateful, violent, threatening or predatory.
2. Volunteer efforts and contributions are encouraged and accepted wherever
mutually desirable and beneficial. However, if and where we shall have
employees, we shall pay a living wage, provide adequate health care coverage,
provide reasonable working conditions, strive for a 32-hour work week, and
provide flexible time-off appropriate to both our organizational needs and our
employees' personal situations. We shall NOT promote products or companies
which fail to do likewise.
3. We shall become a qualified non-profit organization wholly-owned and operated
by our members as time, resources and community interest may provide. Until such
time, we shall operate as a wholly-owned unit of Eclectic Properties Corporation
which has provided funding and expertise necessary for the creation and initial
promotion of this web site.
4. No officer, employee, or consultant shall receive remuneration from The
Alter-Nation Project in excess of the average household income of the community
in which they reside.
5. We shall provide services on a member-supported basis, deriving our operating
revenues from a combination of product sales and referral commissions, paid
("Activist") memberships, sponsorships and individual donations, and
banner advertising.
6. All excess of revenues over expenses will be donated to other efficient and
effective non-profits (e.g., Amnesty International, Public Citizen, People for
the American Way, Common Cause, etc.).
7. For the purposes of our web site
"Activists" refers to paid members (subscribers), whose subscriptions
include the monthly Alter-Na'Zine, access to private archive materials and pages
in addition to all public web pages, substantial discounts on products
offerings, and a free link listing. "Pacifists" refers to unpaid
members (non-subscribers) who shall receive monthly Free ("Pacifist")
memberships include access to public pages and the monthly Alter-Na'Zine.
8. Alter-Nation.com respects the right of artists, authors, composers and other
producers of intellectual properties to control their creations. In particular,
Alter-Nation.com recognizes that artists need compensation for their efforts if
they are to survive and have the time to create additional works. Therefore,
while Alter-Nation.com will sometimes publish samples or excerpts (as per
"fair use doctrine") while promoting or publicly reviewing such works,
Alter-Nation.com will immediately comply with all requests to cease such use
when so requested in writing by the owner(s) of the property(s). Members and
other users of Alter-Nation.com should likewise respect the rights of the
various property owners whose works appear on this web site. Copyright
violations are punishable under both criminal and civil law. NO permission is
granted to copy, sell or otherwise reproduce content from these pages.
9.
"Alter-Nation Hours" are issued by Alter-Nation in respect of
contributions (of time, ideas, information, etc.) made by members. Each
"Hour" may be redeemed as a $10.00 discount on any products offered on
Alter-Nation.com and Hours may be combined to a total of 50% of the amount of
any order. Hours may not be redeemed for cash and have no actual cash value.
Hours are transferrable.
10. DISCLAIMER 1: Alter-Nation (the musical band) is a
separate and distinct legal entity formed by and between its band members, some
of whom are also involved with Alter-Nation.com (aka "The Alter-Nation
Project" web site). While the band and the web site each espouse, promote,
and maintain common views and themes, the band is neither owned nor controlled
by "The Alter-Nation Project", or Eclectic Properties Corporation, nor
vice versa, and their current and future association and cooperation are
strictly at the will of their various parties and owners.
